Butterbeer

Delicious Winter sweets

In this post I’m going to share with you a couple of easy and simple ideas for Delicious Winter sweets. If you do not like sweet deserts or drinks – or you dislike chocolate (really?) – get out fast. This will be most definitely not the post for you!

Butterbeer

First of all, I made this Harry Potter Butterbeer for Mabon a couple of months ago. It had such a unique taste that I just had to share it! I made the Butterbeer from this article. However I did change some small things. I did not put any salt inside the brew and instead of apple cider I used apple juice (the cloudy type). It is super duper sweet, so do not forget the whipped cream! It really helps a lot and makes it a real desert.

Hot coco

For this drink – which most of us know already – first choose a chocolate bar of your liking (for this I like dark chocolate more, because the milk evens out the bitterness). You can choose whatever fun bar you want to drink in liquid form. Then choose your type of milk; dairy milk – or like me, plant-based milk. I use soy, but you could also use almond or coconut – just choose whatever type of milk you want to use.
Then the steps are simple; start heating up the milk in a pan and slowly start putting in pieces of the chocolate bar – until the brown color is just right for you! So delicious.

Chocolate cake

Then we have this cake. I am not going to give you a recipe (because this post is just for ideas) – but I will share why this cake turned out so amazing. It was super dense and the chocolate flavor was absolutely delicious!
The garnish on top is chocolate-covered “pepernoten” which is a treat from The Netherlands. I have no clue if it’s sold outside of our country, but I am sure that there are many recipes online for you to make them yourself. Honestly, homemade pepernoten are the best!
Then, for the trick in the cake itself – the dense-ness and just overall deliciousness – we used brownies instead of regular cake to build the overall cake. Then we put chocolate butter cream in-between the two large, round brownies and all over the total cake.
