Life update

Damn, how much can happen in a single week, right? I started a new course, celebrated 6 years with my boyfriend, getting an option on our first apartment, and experienced the lunar + solar eclipse rollercoaster. Let’s start with the more pressing matter.

The Lunar and Solar eclipse

Sooooooo. This eclipse season hit me like a train. If you didn’t know: the last month or so there has been a lunar eclipse during the full moon and a solar eclipse during the new moon (yesterday). Normally, the moon cycle is one of manifestation, but this time—with the eclipses—the moon cycle has been more like a rollercoaster. Unprocessed emotions resurfaced and inner conflicts arose for me. Obviously, everyone processes these eclipses differently, but I think I felt it more than others. One of the main reasons being that the lunar eclipse happened in Sagittarius and the solar eclipse in Gemini. I am a sag and have a lot of sag-energy in my birth chart, which means that I felt it more than most of the other signs.

If you have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about—or the past month has been perfectly normal for you, amazing! That’s great. More power to you.

Studying Astrology

Speaking about the topic: I’m still an astrology student. I did have some doubts the last 6 months about my path and what I want to do with my life, but astrology gives me so much inspiration and energy. It’s also one of the main tools that I use for self-discovery and figuring out where I want to go from here—literally and metaphorically speaking.

Studying Pattern Drafting + Sewing Techniques

Then, on to the next thing! This brings me so much joy, you can’t even imagine. Even more, than I expected. About 2 years ago I graduated from a fashion design course that taught me some designing, pattern drafting, sewing, and much more. I never really got into it for fashion, but more for costumes (because I love stories—if you couldn’t tell). After graduating, I got scooped up into my next degree and neglected my skills. The time I did have for other things than studying, were filled up to the brim with writing, content creation, and setting up my business. But now I have way more flexibility in my schedule and I decided to pick it back up.

Pattern drafting

I’m doing a self-paced program under supervision from a skilled and experienced tailor, to become a “certified tailor” myself. This means that I’m focusing on my pattern drafting, fabric, and sewing (couture) techniques. The designing part, I’ve got figured out. It’s more about becoming technically adept! I’d love to be a costume designer in the future, too, so this is right up my (creative) alley! So, so, so much fun!

Celebrating 6 years + possible first apartment

Lastly, but definitely not least: I celebrated 6 years with my boyfriend—which is freakishly long. And to top it all off, we got an offer for an apartment in our preferred city center. It ticks off every box we were looking for in an apartment (our first), it has the ideal location and the space has so much potential! All of that whilst living spaces are so scarce. So, somewhere next week, we’ll hear whether we are matched with the apartment, which is pretty nerve-wracking.

The Kingmaker

The Kingmaker #1 and The Rebel King #2

Yes! I took a break from historical romance. Shocker. I read All the King’s Men duet by Kennedy Ryan, which I LOVED! Such a romantic, steamy, and information-filled plot. I loved the characters so much, and I loved the romance between them as well.

Raised to rule, bred to lead and weaned on a diet of ruthless ambition. In a world of haves and have nots, my family has it all, and I want nothing to do with it.
My path takes me far from home and paints me as the black sheep. At odds with my father, I’m determined to build my own empire. I have rules, but Lennix Hunter is the exception to every one of them. From the moment we meet, something sparks between us. But my family stole from hers and my father is the man she hates most. I lied to have her, and would do anything to keep her. Though she tries to hate me, too, the inexorable pull between us will not be denied.

The Hating Game (standalone)

This morning I also finished The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, which is a contemporary romance novel. Yes, I couldn’t quite step away from the romance genre, yet. This novel was freaking amazing, too. Again: loved the characters, loved the romance, LOVED the banter! Love, love, love. Love.

Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She’s charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual.
Trapped in a shared office together 40 (OK, 50 or 60) hours a week, they’ve become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship. There’s the Staring Game. The Mirror Game. The HR Game. Lucy can’t let Joshua beat her at anything—especially when a huge new promotion goes up for the taking.
If Lucy wins this game, she’ll be Joshua’s boss. If she loses, she’ll resign. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua, and dressing for work like she’s got a hot date? After a perfectly innocent elevator ride ends with an earth-shattering kiss, Lucy starts to wonder whether she’s got Joshua Templeman all wrong.
Maybe Lucy Hutton doesn’t hate Joshua Templeman. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.
