Best Netflix Original Series
In this post I’m going to give you the first part of the Best Netflix Original Series recommendations! Netflix movies? Nahhh, not really a fan of 95% of them. But Netflix series? Hell to the yes! Here are my top tips.

1. Arcane (2021)
Set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League champions-and the power that will tear them apart.
My opinion: my *new* favorite series on Netflix! I loved every single second of this series and put me through a rollercoaster of emotions. Not to mention the music!! A masterpiece (and I’m not even a League of Legends fan).

2. The Witcher (2019)
The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
My opinion: The best series on Netflix. This series really helped me process the last season of Game of Thrones. It was the absolute perfect rebound and I’ve already watched it 3-4 times.

3. Bridgerton (2020)
The eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family look for love and happiness in London high society. Inspired by Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels.
My opinion: I’ve never watched anything this fast in my life. This is truly a gem and I loved it SO much! This is the reason I started reading Historical Romance this year, and I’ve already read 50+ of those. Highly recommend, even if you’re not all that into anything historical—this one has a modern twist to it.
Update: Season 2 was AMAZING! Also binged in 24 hours.

4. HOLLYWOOD (2020)
In post-World War II Hollywood, an ambitious group of aspiring actors and filmmakers will do almost anything to make their showbiz dreams come true.
My opinion: One of the most underrated series on Netflix. I had never heard of this series when I started watching this series, but it absolutely blew my mind. I’ve binged this, just like most of the series on this favorites-list. It deals with some pretty serious topics, but this series does it SO well (in my opinion).

5. The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Reunited by their father’s death, estranged siblings with extraordinary powers uncover shocking family secrets — and a looming threat to humanity.
My opinion: This was recommended to me a couple of times, before I finally decided to give it a shot. I’d watched the first episode ones and DNF’d it halfway through, but boy am I happy I gave it another shot. This series is SO weird that it makes sense.

6. Shadow and Bone (2021)
Dark forces conspire against orphan mapmaker Alina Starkov when she unleashes an extraordinary power that could change the fate of her war-torn world.
My opinion: Based on the novels I had read before, so I was biased coming into this. But it’s a very good adaptation of the story and I enjoyed this a LOT.

7. Stranger Things (2016)
A love letter to the supernatural classics of the 80’s, Stranger Things is the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.
My opinion: One of the first GOOD series Netflix released. It feels like a classic.

8. The Crown (2016)
This drama follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century.
My opinion: This show is very slow, but it’s worth it—in my opinion. The music, the actors, the stories… It’s executed on a very high level!

9. Anne with an E (2017)
Anne is a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and many challenges, fights for love and acceptance and her place in the world.
My opinion: This is one of the most cozy and high-spirited, happy series, that deals with some pretty serious topics. Really important messaging and such a unique main character.

10. Sex/Life
A woman’s daring sexual past collides with her married-with-kids present when the bad-boy ex she can’t stop fantasizing about crashes back into her life.
My opinion: Love this a lot. It’s true: sex sells. But besides that, the character dynamics and relationships are done so well. I felt the tension, the chemistry and the despair!

11. Outer Banks
On an island of haves and have-nots, teen John B enlists his three best friends to hunt for a legendary treasure linked to his father’s disappearance.
My opinion: This show has a very special vibe. It feels nostalgic in a way. Beach vibes, chill music, adventures and cute romances. It has a very action-packed plot and some pretty intense scenes, too.

12. The Thrilling Adventures of Sabrina (season 1 + 2)
Half witch. Half mortal. On her 16th birthday, Sabrina has to make a choice between the witch world of her family and the human world of her friends.
My opinion: I got attracted for the dark, witchy vibes and I stayed for the characters. Especially season 1 and 2, those felt solid. Season 3 and 4 felt more scrambled and all over the place.
Lots of Love,
Britt
