Bookcon 2019 | Day 1
Hello everyone! Finally – the first day of BOOKCON 2019! I already expressed all over instagram how much I loved it, but I’m finally making the complementary blogposts to it! If you haven’t read my general New York post yet, and you want to know what I did besides Bookcon, you can read the post here.
The first thing we saw upon entering were all these humongous banners, representing the newest & upcoming books for the rest of 2019. You can see a lot in the photos, but to name a few; Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, Rebel by Marie Lu & Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas.

Renée Ahdieh
The first author I met was Renée Ahdieh. I’d won a meet & greet/photo-op previously to Bookcon, and it happened almost first thing in the morning. I was SO glad my mom was with me, so I could quickly get out of a Macmillan in-booth signing line to run to the photo-op! So, thanks mom.

Renée is literally one of the kindest authors I’ve ever met. She’s really interested in her readers, and really pays attention. She even recognized me later at her book signing and asked me how my day had been so far! If you think about it, authors meet hundreds of people on an event like Bookcon, so she really paid attention!

THAT SAMPLER OF THE BEAUTIFUL OMG.

I look really tired on most of these author pics.. Sadly. I was tired though. Bookcon was a lot of waiting in line and we had to get up early each day. But, I got A lot of energy afterwards – when I realized I had just met one of my favorite authors. Hehe.

Susan Dennard
I met Susan Dennard, as well! We didn’t have a lot of time with her, because there was a time-crisis. But, overall, she was crazy kind and I can’t wait to delve into her witchlands series!
+ She wasn’t supposed to sign more than one book per person, but she did sign both of mine. So, thank you Susan! <3

Kristen Martin
Ahh. This was so cool. I’ve been following kristen for over 3 years now, and I looked forward to meeting her so much because of it. I knew she was going to be at Bookcon 2019. It’s like meeting your favorite youtuber, because she is my fave. When I told her I’m from the Netherlands, she asked me to repeat that in her vlog – and she said it would be in her BookCon vlog. So.. yeah, I fangirled a bit about that (still do), because I’m going to be in a video I always watch!

Leigh Bardugo
This was a welcomed surprise. I’d tried to get tickets to Leigh’s signing session, when we could get them online. But sadly, Leigh’s tickets were one of the few that were gone within seconds.
But, we managed (somehow) to get a wristband for her in-booth signing. Mostly thanks to my mom, because she really did her best in that crazy situation to get me a wristband. And to top it all, Leigh is an amazing, inspiring person, and she was SO kind.

Proud owner of a Six of Crows art plate with Leigh’s signature!

I also got a Bookcon 2019-special, Bookbeau. I always saw them on instagram, but living in the Netherlands, shipping is a BIG no-no. So, I was super happy to get my hands on one of them – and have it as a reminder to this beautiful weekend!

And, this concludes the ending of Bookcon day 1! I hope you enjoyed, and hope you come back for day 2 as well.
Lots of Love,
Britt
